Last 30th December in Fermo (Marche, Italy), the Making Waves Italian Film Maker contest took place during the CRISImass Fest, organised by NUFABRIC-IGEGNERIA CREATIVA and the 2 winning films that will be then screening during our fantastic Festival are:

Ape/Car instagram

This is my new project, for now called “Apecar”.
These young Italians, use this legendary Italian transport called “APE Piaggio” like a car.

The first sighting of Apecar took place on May 2012.

The “Ape Piaggio” was born in 1948, when Italy was still devastated by war. The lack means of transport was evident, but many could not afford to buy a four-wheel. Piaggio came the idea of ​​building a commercial vehicle on three wheels ( bike+van) derived from a scooter. The first model was built from Vespa.
Even today, the Ape is for Italian teenagers a precocious desire to have a car, as their older friends. Change look, customizing appearance, sometimes the power of the engine, represents the final stage of their adolescence; defy the gravity laws running on three wheels above the speed limit, it’s essential to obtain a status symbol.

Voicesmag # 2 issue

Il secondo tema; “Ragioni per restare in italia”

“Un italiano su tre vuole vivere all’estero”. Lo afferma un ritaglio di giornale sul frigo di casa mia. Non ho idea del perché sia lì, né chi lo abbia messo, eppure lo tengo a testimoninza di un desiderio, quasi un monito, che rinnovo quotidianamente. Perché vogliamo andare via dall’Italia? perché vogliamo rimanere? Le risposte in entrambe i casi hanno il sapore del luogo comune, tanto plausibili quanto discutibili e neanche troppo dissimili da quelle di francesi, svizzeri o albanesi (..per citare a caso). La convinzione è che all’estero si vive meglio. Quale sia questo estero e cosa sia meglio, è tutto da stabilire.

Ragioni per restare è il tema di questo numero di Voices e, ritagli di giornale a parte, ci è sembrato interessante poterlo rappresentare fotograficamente chiedendo ai partecipanti un contributo. Un sondaggio che si occupa di Italia e di italiani, voluto non per stimolare un senso di appartenenza o di orgoglio nazionale, ma per raccontare scelte di vita proprie o altrui. Un tema che ha generato rinunce, difficoltà e silenzi tra i fotografi invitati, per questo nel mostrarvi le immagini vi chiedo: quali le ragioni per andarsene? …e aspetto le foto.

Voicesmag # 1 issue

Uno dice famiglia – niente più – solo famiglia, lo dice a una schiera di fotografi professionisti invitati a partecipare e attende una risposta. Immagina legami di sangue, rapporti di convivenza, discendenza e appartenenza; immagina amore e dolore. Loro, gli interpellati, rispondono con fotografie di una quotidianità rassicurante. La famiglia, nonostante tutto, conserva la sua accezione positiva, priva di ombre e di inquietudini da cronaca nera e si racconta attraverso lenzuola di lino e borotalco, anziane signore e vecchi ricordi, panni al sole e tavole apparecchiate. Una felice varietà di interpretazioni che premia chi guarda, costringendolo ogni tanto – solo ogni tanto – a funamboliche riflessioni sull’idea di famiglia.

Rapida Food

In Mexico there are many varieties of snacks that are available at any time day or night. They call it “Comida Callejera” (Street Food) and it is sold by street vendors, often from a portable makeshift stall. Comida Callejera is meant as a fast and convenient finger food that is more affordable than a typical restaurant or supermarket.Although some of the offerings span entire regions and others the entire country much of the street food culture in Mexico is based on local dishes and have not spread beyond their places of origin.

The Chain

Mauro took part last project curated by Pilkington, responded to the title set by Matt Eich:

‘The Chain’ is the latest project curated by Stuart Pilkington, (curator of The Alphabet Project What is England? and the 50 States Project).

Stuart invited 107 photographers from around the globe to participate in the project at the beginning of 2011.

And in February 2011 each photographer submitted a title/instruction to inspire a photograph by another person in the project. The photographers were connected like links in a chain. They were asked to respond to the title set by the person directly behind them. The title they set was directed to the photographer directly in front of them.

For example, Elizabeth Gordon responded to the title set by Andrea Chu. Hiroshi Watanabe responded to the title set by Elizabeth Gordon. Harry Borden responded to the title set by Hiroshi Watanabe. And so on and so on.

By 18th June 2011 all 107 photographers submitted their photographs and at the end of June all the images were published on the Chain website. Please click here to see all the images that have been submitted.





Paratissima2010

PARATISSIMA 2010, From 3 to 7 November, San Salvario – TURIN- Italy

For the sixth consecutive year, Gruppo Para, in collaboration with the association Ylda, is organising a collective exhibition for young artists one of the main events of “Contemporary Art”. Paratissima 2010 will take place from 3 to 7 November, and like the previous year, will be hosted in the San Salvario quarter of Turin.

The sixth edition of Paratissima, the “happening” exhibition of contemporary art, is dedicated to analogies between the kitchen, the “laboratory” of the house and the multiethnic area of San Salvario.
Just as the kitchen is an area for discovering new pleasures as well as the conservation and preparation of food, so San Salvario is the location for creative and artisan activities and the forms a framework for emerging talent.

In 2009, Paratissima came of age, 375 artists, 76 events, 39 private sponsors and 69 businesses of San Salvario were involved, to which must be added 43 non-commercial spaces transformed into locations for exhibitions. The number of visitors was estimated at 40,000.

This year, Paratissima 2010 will again repeat its role as the alternative event to ARTissima, offering a place for young talent, artists not yet established, to exhibit, spiced up with DJ sets, food, drink and live performances. Paratissima utilises various locations in San Salvario, from local bars, businesses and appartments to public spaces. The artists, from around the world, can exhibit their own work with the sole condition that they respect their host location.

Given the nature of the event, its aims, participants and regional collaboration, it will be supported by the Region of Piemonte, the City of Torino and Circoscrizione 8 (the quarter of San Salvario), it forms part of the calendar of Contemporary Arts Torino Piemonte and the Torino Youth European Capital, and is also assisted by the Camera di Commercio, by the Fondazione per l’Arte della FCRT, the Compagnia di San Paolo and by various private sponsors.

TAU Visual Prize

The Pandillas de Chiapas project was published in book Premiofotografico, the book of the second edition of PremioFotografico: a book of 579 pages, hundreds of images, size 15x21cm bound in hard back. The book is distributed free to advertising agencies, media groups, agents, gallery owners and critics, as well as the winners placed in categories: authors who have had a placement (winners of the 5 areas, authors placed 1, 2 and 3 in 20 categories , and 1, 2 and 3 in the “new proposals”)

 

Lucha Libre

Lucha Libre has identified itself with popular culture to the point of giving into the ring legend and all, the fighters that have written the history of this sport don’t represent a psychedelic figure, the mask represents the character of the fighter drawing a profile of true heroes. The pay stinks, the pace is exhausting, the spectacular takings body to body simulate a perfect theatrical work. The Free Fight is considered as the 1° sport of Mexico spread in the whole Latin America, behind the great history of the “Lucha Libre”  there’s the life of the fighters,  men and women heroes of the sport and in the life.

La Lucha Libre Messicana giunge al suo 75° anniversario grazie ad una piena identificazione nella cultura popolare a tal punto che la stessa si riflette sul ring durante i combattimenti. I lottatori che hanno scritto la storia di questo sport non rappresentano una figura psichedelica ma per l’immaginario collettivo quella di veri e propri eroi. La paga è minima, gli allenamenti estenuanti, le spettacolari prese corpo a corpo simulano una perfetta opera teatrale. La Lucha Libre è considerato come il 1° sport rappresentativo del Messico esteso in tutto il Latino America, dietro la grande storia della Lucha Libre c’e la vita dei lottatori, degli atleti, uomini e donne eroi nello sport e nella vita.
